Defected presents Charles Webster [Defected]

For the past 20 years, Charles Webster has been a consistent and prolific force in dance and electronic music. Best known for his releases under various monikers (including Furry Phreaks, Presence, Love From San Francisco, lo:rise, DJ Profile and his own name), masterful collaborations with Terra Deva, Tracey Thorn and Robert Owens, vital remixes for artists like Herbert, Slope, Fish Go Deep, Justin Martin, Groove Armada and Super Discount, and his label imprints Remote and Miso Records, Charles has become synonymous with sumptuous deep house grooves, intoxicating soulful vocals and heady downtempo soundscapes that are a testament to his skillful and continually evolving palette. On the brilliant triple CD compendium, Defected presents Charles Webster, music lovers are treated to a comprehensive collection highlighting the acclaimed producer/remixer/DJ and label owner's dynamic sonic versatility and eclectic range of influences. Spread across 3 equally impressive themed discs, the set offers a fluid and coherent summation of the talented visionary's vast scope. Disc one ("club") is a straight|forward house mix including cuts by Kings of Tomorrow, Blaze, Doctor Rockit (aka Herbert), Moodymann and Deep South (aka Murk / Funky Green Dogs) as well as new edits of Webster's own past releases. However, unlike similar "megacomp" releases, this cd (thankfully) eschews the typical barrage of floor-filling anthems in favor of more sublime and emotive Balearic-hued tracks. The second unmixed "lounge" disc is the most thrilling and inspired of the triad offering an illuminating glimpse into the artist's own diverse cannon of influences. Ideal for home listening, the assemblage features soothing selections from D'Angelo, Black Sabbath, Patti Smith, Brian Eno, Kate Bush, 70s folk auteur John Martyn, Plaid, Simian and more. The final "studio" disc collects 12 of Webster's essential studio works and mixes alongside several exclusive new entries creating a fitting conclusion to this "must-have" anthology.

TWENTY years on the scene, Sheffield born Webster has kept under the radar, credibility intact - an innovator of the electronic scene with an impressive album sales catalogue behind him.
With this 3-CD release, Webster offers an insight into his influences - delving into the stunning range of top picks, exclusives and remixes that underpin his work.

Ranging from Black Sabbathfs Planet Caravan, Kate Bush and Army Dreamers to Blaze featuring Palmer Brown and Do You Remember House, a more eclectic mix of artists on one (rather three) CDs would be impossible to find.
Pure pleasure - 38 handpicked glorious tracks never to tire of.
Released on April 28
